The Diary of a Busy Community Club

Since being named English and European Hockey Club of the Year, it would be easy to sit on our laurels, however, so people have an idea about all that goes into both keeping the club going, but also looking to grow it, take a look at the things we have been doing in the last few weeks......

Saturday 6th June

  • Attendance at the England Hockey Asset Owner's Conference (held at The Silhillians)

Sunday 7th June

  • Updating of Club website with Ladies League fixtures
  • Design and Order of new club Gazebo to be used at Community events

Monday 8th June

  • Providing Umpires at North Solihull Schools Primary Hockey Competition in Smith's Wood - Heat 1
  • Organising Men's and Ladies Summer League teams and Umpires
  • Liaison with potential new player contacting the club via website
  • Community Coach provides coaching in St.Peter's School

Tuesday 9th June

  • Providing Umpires at North Solihull Schools Primary Hockey Competition in Smith's Wood - Heat 2
  • Men's Summer League Team play against Sutton Coldfield
  • Community Coach provides coaching in Smith's Wood Sports College

Wednesday 10th June

  • Ladies Summer League side play match against Sutton Coldfield
  • Men's Veterans Summer League side play match against Yardley
  • Community Coach provides coaching in Beechwood Multi-Sports Centre
  • Club runs Introduction to new Rules evening (for over 50 attendees)

Thursday 11th June

  • Community Coach provides coaching in Langley School

Friday 12th June

  • Back to Hockey session held at The Silhillians

Saturday 13th June

  • Due to run Community Stall at Shirley Park Donkey Derby, but called off due to rain
  • Planning for Flyerz team to attend event at The Copper Box in the Olympic Park in August

Sunday 14th June

  • Level 1 Umpiring Course held at the Club for 22 attendees (2 of which were OSHC Members)
  • Submission of nomination for Birmingham Sports Club of the Year

Monday 15th June

  • Providing Umpires at North Solihull Schools Primary Hockey Competition in Smith's Wood - Finals
  • Community Coach provides coaching in St.Peter's School
  • Planning and Organisation done for The Silhillians Sports Club Open Day on 12th July

Tuesday 16th June

  • Back to Hockey run at Beechwood Multisports Centre
  • Young Leaders from the Club help to run 2 hour Primary Schools coaching for South Solihull Schools, then supported by Club Coaches to Umpire and Deliver Primary Schools competition (to over 100 children) - all activity held at The Silhillians
  • Inclusive Hockey Sessions delivered in Harborne as part of the Birmingham Inclusive Sport Festival week
  • Community Coach provides coaching in Smith's Wood Sports College
  • Men's Summer League Team play against Olton
  • Meeting held with Seal Personal Training to look at potential for them running their business out of a possible new gym to be built on site at The Silhillians

Wednesday 17th June

  • Men's Veterans Summer League side play match against Olton
  • Community Coach provides coaching in Beechwood Multi-Sports Centre
  • England Masters v Hockey for Heroes fixture arranged for Clubhouse Opening Day

Thursday 18th June

  • Community Coach provides coaching in Langley School
  • Men's Playing Committee meeting to plan and discuss fixtures, pitch bookings, player recruitment and selection, Captains obligations etc.
  • Meetings planned for discussion of JDC planning for Solihull JDC (which will be held at The Silhillians in September)

Friday 19th June

  • Back to Hockey session held at The Silhillians
  • Planning for Club Celebration evening and HockeyFest to be held 12th/13th September
