M1 win Birmingham Sport - Team of the Year

2 years ago By Stephen Tabb

To add to the long list of trophies won by the M1 in 2013-14, they can now boast to be Birmingham Sports Team of the Year 2014 as well.

At the annual Birmingham Sports Awards, the Men's 1st team were up against City of Birmingham Water Polo, and Birmingham University Squash Team for the prestigious Team of the Year Award.

With the awards ceremony being held at Villa Park, Captain James Clapham was presented with the title, sponsored by Cartwright King Solicitors, in recognition of the tremendous 2013-14. Accolades within the season included:

West Midlands Summer League Champions
Mercia League Summer League Champions
Warwickshire Cup Champions
MRHA West Midlands Premier Champions

and a number of the side were also National Mixed Plate Champions.

Throw in that James Clapham also coached the Warwickshire U14 Boys to 2nd place in the Midlands Championships and the Solihull Flyerz supported by Men's 1st Team player Dave Baylis were National Inclusive Hockey 5-a-side Champions, and you can see why the team were rewarded for their efforts.

This season has already started positively with the team having secured the Warwickshire Plate in the annual County Championships.
