Semi Finalists

It was a blistering hot day at Warwick University, so hot that the sprinklers on the water based pitch looked very inviting.

There was huge support from the parents on the sidelines which is great to see, so thank you so much to all that came along, also thanks for Darren for ensuring everyone was in the right place and even directing people in from numerous postcodes given.

The girls were drawn in their group with Olton, Warwick, Atherstone and Rugby & East Warwicks. They drew their first match with Olton 1 - 1, Erica Adams on the scoresheet, it was a great game and Sils showed dominance for most of the game, taking the lead early on through some great play down the right wing from Flo Collins, Melissa Thurman and Erica Adams.

The second game saw Sils beat Warwick 3 - 0, with goals from Bethany Tomlinson, Erica Adams and Poppy Burnett, there were some lovely team goals in this game and Sils were warming up nicely.

They then thrashed Atherstone 4 - 0 with more goals from Bethany Tomlinson, Emilia Moberley, Eva Robinson and Abby Richards, again some strong play from the back with Flo Collins and Rosie bossing the defence, some excellent build up play and distribution from Melissa Thurman and superb finishing from the attackers, Abby Richards proved very strong as a right winger setting up two goals.

This group stage performance saw Sils progress to the Semi Finals to face the very well organised Sutton Coldfield, Sils started well with some excellent defending after finding themselves under pressure for most of the first few minutes. Sutton scored after a decision was overturned by umpire Steve Tabb after the Sils taker (mentioning no names...Melissa) took far too long over the free hit, Sutton then dominated the game adding a second as Sils tried to equalise. Final score Sutton Coldfield 2 - 0 Old Silhillians U12 Girls.

Sils then played Leamington in a 3rd/4th place playoff, although the game was very evenly split Leamington took the honours 1 - 0

A great performance from all and a well derserved 4th place which is a great achievement!
