Ain't no stoppin us now!
Unbeaten since the early days of November, Old Sils Vets travelled down the m5 to play Worcester looking to continue to build on their mid season impetus.
The Vets could only look on and admire as Worcester dominated the early exchanges with a nice demonstration of ball retention albeit one that rarely threatened to make it into the Sils half. However, having lulled Worcester into a false sense of competence, the Sils began to reveal their true form. With the Worcester defence struggling to cope with the movement of Messrs Danks, Thurman and Fell (a statement which is at best 33% true), the Sils took a 2 goal lead thanks to well taken short corner goals from Dre and John Rice.
Half-time couldn't come soon enough for Worcester who were lucky not to be further behind and who had barely threatened the Sils D. This led to a nice half time moment when Nobby, whilst complimenting himself on what an effective job he had made of left back, basically asked Steve Aylin who our regular left back was. The first cut is the deepest.
Anyhow, Sils began the second half as they finished the first adding two further goals to their tally both through Nick Danks. As the game came to its typical Worcester away premature end, it started to get somewhat scrappy enabling Worcester to sneak a couple of goals back. Unfortunately Nick was left stranded just shy of a hat trick as Sils failed to carve out the chance that would have guaranteed a jug of generic branded lager.
The post match retreat to the local pub allowed those that stayed to enjoy back to back rounds of crisps and conversational topics as diverse as vacuum cleaners and boilers.
