Scoreline does not really tell the full story

Sils were taught a lesson in finishing by an accomplished Olton & WW side who will go on to play in the Regional competition having won all of their group games.

The first 10 minutes of the game was dominated by Sils, with Sam Johnstone and Joe Houlcroft in particular showing great skills and distribution to set up a couple of half-chances for the home team.

However, by half-time the tide had turned and it was 3-0 to the visitors, Theo Olifent making some good saves in goal, but a few panicky clearances, and not enough tracking back meant that Olton had expertly despatched the small number of chances they had been affored.

The second half saw Olton dominating more of the game, with Sils turning over possession a little easily, but still able to create the first chance of the half, with Jacques Banton being denied by a good save from the visiting goalkeeper. Banton did manage a couple more chances, and Luke Wood-Edens had one run from the halfway line denied again by the Olton goalkeeper, but in the end Olton just proved too strong. Two penalty corner conversions, and a further goal scored from a free hit on the edge of the D which was passed to a player whilst Sils were too slow in reacting, and clinically hammered home.

The final game in the group is after Christmas against Redditch and the U16 side will be looking to finish on a high.

Man of the Match was Nick Rice for an assured display at the back, both distributing the ball well, and tackling expertly.
