Experienced Bees outrun overworked youngsters

At the start of the week, the Sils, with another 2 young players joining the club, were looking forward to this fixture with a strong looking squad. Unfortunately due to injuries and availability problems higher up the club, (Eng vs AUS at Twickers?!) some players were promoted whilst 7 of the squad had to play their second match of the day. Rather than dazzling the crowds with his silky skills Skipper Steve Tabb found himself with whistle in hand once more. These friendly 5th teams matches are a great opportunity for budding umpires to practise and all & any volunteers are very welcome :-)

Berkswell had a number of their second team players doubling up, and whilst the score looks a little one-sided the game was actually closer than the number of goals would suggest. Berkswell were definitely more experienced and stronger in general, but Sils who boasted 10 year old Ethan McGuirk stuck to their task and a goal from a Nick Johnson PC was definitely deserved.

Arun Jogi in goal, helping out by doubling-up due to a late cry-off made a number of good saves, and new players Michael Clarke and Jack Morris both ran their legs off. A fantastic effort by many tiring legs, but we definitely need to hope for more player availability higher up the club to give ourselves better chances in our M5 matches in the future.
