M5 does not get the win, but continues to provide opportunities for new players

The M5 entertained an experienced Pershore side, who had not lost a match in the 3Ws Fathoms league. The Sils side was a mix of youth, experience, and a few Back to Hockey players and the team competed well with a Pershore side which was full of more regular players. The home side contained Lee Smith playing his second game for the club, and new signing Harpreet making his debut.

Pershore took the lead after about 10 minutes, with one of their young lads causing problems with his good close skills and enthusiastic running, and it was not long before they scored their second. Sils did fashion a couple of chances of their own, with John Harrison's deflection going agonisingly a few inches wide of the left post.

The half-time break came soon after, and whilst the Sils were 2-0 down, they still felt in the game, and were keen to try and keep the ball a little better in the second half. There was a noticeable improvement on this front, and the game was very even for the second period - the only goal unfortunately going in favour of the visitors.

An enjoyable game for the 5ths, with the real difference being the fact that Pershore clearly played as a team a lot more regularly than the Sils side did. Roll on the next fixture, and the recruitment of more new players! To-date this season, the club has been delighted to welcome Guy Brina, Lee Smith, Brandon Munemo, James Harris and now Harpreet as new adult members at the lower end of the club, and the M5 has really helped to provide playing opportunities for all of these "newbies".
