Sils emerge victors (but slightly scathed) from a 9 goal away thriller.

In Saturday's league game Sils opened the scoring in the first minute when the forward line pressed the Wednesdbury defence into giving away a penalty corner straight off their own push back. This turnover effort wasn't wasted by Dan Sulway who slotted the PC into the bottom corner (0-1). Sils continued their strong start but a few open play chances and a couple of PCs were missed before the home side broke away and equallised with a well taken strike (1-1). A physical first half came to a close shortly after Max Levenger had volleyed instinctively at the far post to restore the lead (1-2).

The second half saw Sils start stronger but a well organised home PC defence kept the score unchanged until two breakaway goals gave Wednesbury the lead for the first time in the game(3-2). Another PC and a change of tactic gave captain James Clapham the chance to step up and put the visitors level (3-3). As the midfield battle continued to simmer the Sils forced yet another PC this time leading to a Penalty Stroke as Clapham was again set to find the target. Sulway regained the lead with a cool finish (4-3). Wednesbury then found yet another gear and created a chance out of nothing to once again level the scores (4-4). Lesser sides would have settled for the away draw but the Sils midfield led by man of match Jon Hollway fought on to deliver a 69th minute chance for veteran Andre Tchakhotine to slam home the winner.

With only enough time on the clock for a pointless midfield scrimmage Wednesbury still managed to have a last dig at the Sils in the form of a stick to Salman Whittaker's brow drawing copious amounts of blood, a timely final whistle and Terry Butcher style wound dressing.
