The men’s 2nd team were hosted Finchield’s reserve XI. Sils started extremely well passing the ball fluidly and creating many chances in the opposition’s ‘D’. The deadlock was finally broken on 20 minutes when Andre Tchakhotine reacted to a loose ball and slotted a quick shot into the far bottom corner. The home side then took their foot off the gas and in what seemed like a flash Finchield were awarded 3 penalty corners converting all 3 to take a 3-1 lead. Sils rallied to force a penalty corner of their own in the last play of the half which captain Mark Dovey converted with a near post deflection.
The second half was poised to thrill the growing crowd but a freak hail storm hit B93. After a brief pause to let the ice clear off the pitch the two teams resumed but the rest of the game was littered with errors, poor judgement and missed chances. Final score 3-2 to the visitors, proving that in sport anything can happen and the better team doesn't always win.
