On the wrong end of a 5 goal thriller but boy did Sils push their opponents to the limit, and deserve to take at least a point from an entertaining season friendly opener.
So many positives to take into the Bromsgrove friendlies on 22/9. Here are just three:
1. There is a range of emerging young talent that will form a integral part of M4 and M5 campaigns this season - Hill, Ballantine-Brain, Whitfield, Smith and Bridges played exceptionally well today, particularly Mackenzie who put in an assured display @ CB today and a well-deserved MoM.
2. It’s not just fine wines that get better with age - so many of the established M4 campaigners showed that they are capable of putting “McGrath-type” performances in yet again. (That’s on the pitch - Ed).
3. A collective desire to be the best that we can, and a flexibility and commitment to play out of position for the team cause. Throughout the team, whether young, in mid-life crisis or old.
4. Tony Dwyer’s competitive spirit - enraged that Keith was selected ahead of him for M2, Tony put in an exceptional performance on the left flank. His tackling, positional play and passing were sublime and we hope that this pre-season rustiness does not wear off!
Well done everyone, get ready for Bromsgrove in a fortnight.
See you at the Samaritans Car Wash next Saturday !
