Second half slow-down proves costly

Difficult to write a match report after a game like this, but here goes.

Sils suffered their first loss of the league season in a remarkable game which saw seven goals in each half. Kings Heath took the lead inside the first minute, but this spurred Sils immediately into action, creating a number of good chances following some great counter-attacking play. Andy Rush had an immediate impact in his first game of the season, scoring two goals inside the first twenty minutes to put Sils 2-1 ahead. However, Sils were quickly pegged back, and needed a goal from Tony Dwyer - following a neat move involving Jackman, Harrison, Rush and Matt Lyons - to go in at the break 4-3 behind.

The second half started as the first half finished, with both sides scoring quickly. Sils levelled the score at 4-4 after Willetts Jnr set up Willetts Snr for a well-taken goal. Within minutes Sils went 5-4 behind, before Higgins scored the tenth goal of the match to keep Sils in the match at 5-5.

With almost twenty minutes of the game still to go, there was every reason to believe that Sils could win this pulsating game, but it was at this point that the team started to run out of steam. A combination of tiredness, poor passing and poor marking allowed Kings Heath to take both the initiative and the lead. Although Sils created several chances in the final quarter of the game, forcing three short corners, they were unable to find the net again.
