Sils Vs Sils vol.1

The first interclub fixture of the season in South East 4 started with a well taken early goal by Tom Cloke in the 4th minute to put the 5ths ahead. After this early wake up call, the 4ths levelled at 1-1 with a goal from Keith Willetts who, as usual, was in the right place at the right time.
Both keepers were kept busy for the next 20 minutes and in between important saves at both ends of the pitch Andy Rush scored his 1st of the game in the14th minute. After several short corners for both sides, Andy Rush scored his second goal in the 27th minute and Matthew Hulbert scored his first just before half time to give the 4ths a 4-1 lead at the break.
It was important for the 4ths not to concede early in the 2nd half. Both sides were using the full width of the pitch and for most of the second half the defences kept chances to a minimum. The creative interaction, particularly between the younger members of the squad, bodes well for the future The goal of the match was scored by Matthew Hulbert with a superb run and strike 5 minutes from time.
Lemon drizzle cake (baked by Angela Cloke) was offered at half time by the 5ths. Not taken at the time by the 4ths, it was much enjoyed and appreciated at the end of the match.
