Sils put 5 away against the thespians

Better late than never, here's a few words about our stellar game against the boys from Stratford.

It was a game to remember with some pretty impressive performances all round. The game started well with Rushy putting away a great short corner, putting Stratford on the back foot. But the boys from the home of Shakespeare were not to be deterred and despite some valiant work at the back from Mike, Mick, and Dave a couple of break aways kept things all level at half time.

With thoughts from all sides the half time talk gave lots to think about, before heading back out into battle, a quick change of formation, this time Rushy stepped up and played out of position in midfield to help fill the hole that seemed to be the chink in the Sils armour.

And this seemed to do the trick, because if ever there was a game of two halves this was one. Sils rejoined the game firing on all cylinders whilst the Stratford boys seemed not to have left the bench. Some fantastic play stringing many passes and quick phases of play together resulted in a full 3 more goals from the Sils and some important tackles and passes being made from Andy J in midfield, one of the match highlights includes a textbook play down the right side, with Alex and Will passing between each other, and into the D to Fletcher who buried the ball in the roof of the net, a true goal for the highlight reel. This was in stark contrast to my goal which could go down in history as the most untidy goal of all time resulting from a screamer played into the D, a touch from Keith to apply spin, before I nudged under the keepers foot.

Keith kept himself on the scoreboard, too with another classic Willets strike, and a couple of very near misses.

The work rate in the second half from everyone was notably turned up from the first half, and after Tom W spent a few minutes on the bench to catch his breath he rejoined the game with a new vision and instigated some crucial plays keeping the pressure firmly on and the ball in the stratford half.

Lets see some more 5 goal wins in this half of the season
