Next time hopefully in our favour though!

Sils 4ths maintained their run of 7-goal games (now 3 in a row), this week somehow managing to turn a 2-0 lead into a 3-4 defeat.

This always looked a tricky fixture, missing regular defensive lynch-pin Aylin (much) and goal-scoring machine(his words) Willetts (not so much). If it looked hard on paper it looked trickier still when the average age of both sides was apparent during the warm-up ("what warm up?" said GK Jimbo...).

Despite this, a neat individual goal by the 'real' goal machine Andy Rush, and a rare (understatement - extremely rare) goal from the wippet Dwyer sent Sils into dreamland against their young(er) oppo. However, a late first half goal pulled the home side back into it and they started the stronger in the second half, before long taking the lead. Not to be denied, Rush again broke free down the right in true Andros Townsend style, setting up a tap in for Matt Lyons. A draw looked like a fair result with Sils defence standing strong and keeper Jim in dominant form, but eventually the pressure told and it was not to be. (I can't remember details but at least I can remember the number of goals*)

Sils are improving with every game and the results will come - in the meantime there can be no doubt that when faced with a plate of post-match egg and cheese sandwiches in The Wheatsheaf, the experience of the Sils really showed with some Premier League finishing by Jogi and his two boys, and Lyons J (among others).

* It was Wednesday before A. Rush realised we had actually lost... a definite fineable offence in my book.
