It's a Rush job as Sils speed to victory in yet another 7 goal thriller

After recording their first win of the season against Hampton 4ths a fortnight ago, Sils 4ths put in a dominant first half display to destroy the visitors 5th string at Copt Heath - a result that takes them into the top half of the table. Hampton were once again on the wrong end of a striker hitting top form - in the earlier match it was Willetts with four goals to his name and this time it was Andy Rush.

Sils rushed into a four goal half time lead and the 3 points never looked in doubt - "especially with Harrison unavailable and the chance of maintaining eleven on the pitch therefore significantly increased" said midfield veteran (crock) Arun Jogi. Playing just behind the front man, Rush has looked impressive throughout this season and after missing a few chances last week, this time it all came good for the striker, who also learnt of success in his MA during the week (Main Attacker? certainly was this week...).

In the second half the visitors - fresh from a stiff talking to by their captain - pulled a goal back, but they found Bettridge back from injury and showing typically robust strength in his defensive tackles (and offering strong evidence of a hockey apprenticeship played on grass, he was perhaps lucky the umpires were in lenient mood...)

Sils other goal came after silky skills saw Murray Creed attack the D before slipping a pass to Simon Russell whose reverse stick shot from the edge of the area (yes, really - in a 4th XI match!!) beat the keeper easily.

Man of the Match was an easy decision and given to Rush. This week Sils will need to be back on top form as they meet top of the table West Brom in a breakfast time push back....

And that's the way I heard it from someone who did actually see the match i.e not me! (JH)
