Sils Olton for another win

Dre at the double
This summer league is an easy lark really. Assemble a venerable squad. Buy a job lot of red trousers. Throw in a bearded, balding skateboarder and you have everything you need to have a very pleasant summer's evening.
Sils took on the mighty Olton and it was a sticky, speedy evening of skilled hockey (at least that is what I was told to say to Gary). Really it was a battle of the first order. The first half was probably as well as Sils have played this summer. It was slick, crisp hockey. The pace was like watching the DVD on 1/2 speed - but the ball speed was as sexy as the girl from Countdown solving a sum wearing nothing but the new Sils away kit. When the vets get it right, it is quite good. Mark held the middle, and Dre and Sam were like assassins in front of the goal. The Olton keeper was formidable, but the first goal was brilliant and the poor chap simply was left floundering like Moby Dick on the beach. A tap in by Nick Danks after a flowing move. 1-0! The second goal was as good, A move down the left was finished by Dre passing into the back of the goal. Happy days and half time was a relaxed chirpy affair.
We knew Olton would come out at us - and they did. It was a much more even half, and the battle was symbolised by the deserved sending off (green card) for John Rice. His offence? Fishing!!! Olton scored a good goal, but we bounced back with Sam Stephen banging one in. Olton then score again and we needed a fine fourth courtesy of Dre to resgtore the two goal advantage. It was then a 15 minute siege to finish, and Jim Goldstraw and the defence stood firm much like the 24th Foot at Rorke's Drfift. Jim made some good saves, and John Scott was fantastic. In the end, Olton scored a final consolation with the last hit of the game. So it was 4-3 and its now four wins on the bounce.
Supper was a happy affair. Nobby is still holding out on the red trousers, and this must soon result in a severe financial penalty. Nick Danks drank ale, Sam did not buy a jug. No politics was discussed and HK did not score for Olton. It was a splendid evening. We next face the delights of Hampton next week. Gates open at 7.45 and it's on Sky 8. Have a nice day
