rain did'nt stop play

An eventful evening which saw a bedraggled crew eventually earn a very pleasing 1 all draw. Quite a few struggled to find the pitch whilst the oppo looked young, fit and menacing going through warm up drills. They certainly started strongly and it was backs to the wall defending that kept the score to 1 nil at half time after a certain Mr Hadian (remember him..Ed?) creamed one into the far side of the net.

However, yet again we doggedly stuck at it and played decent spells of hockey ourselves. Second half they appeared to have run out of variety in their attack and Mr Thurman struck back to equalise with a decently hit penalty corner strike.....boom! We managed to keep them at bay, could have snuck a winner and then had to defend a short at the final whistle which we did to take the point. Fair to say I reckon we were the happier team :))

Seven of us headed off into the murky night in search of Balti. May have looked a little odd walking in wearing our resplendent shirts, but curry was ordered before Nobby set off to find beer. 10 minutes later whilst we were glugging our quality Carling (another vets first for me!) the staff informed us it was an alcohol free restaurant!! The Jew had upset the Muslims, so without wishing to cause a riot we "one'd" the stuff. The evening was rounded off by 8 guys in matching tiger print outfits walking in after a washout day at the cricket.....quite a sight, you couldn't make it up really... we should have got a photo.

Milsy was MOM and we left the students to settle up as we headed for home after another entertaining Vets night out.
