Sils got off to a fast start in a howling gale to take the lead within the first five minutes when Emily Green slipped the ball to Samantha Cooper who rounded the Bridgnorth keeper to score. Sils continued to press throughout the half to no avail as chances went begging and an injury to Rebecca Leaning seemed to allow Bridgnorth greater momentum and they gradually got back into the game equalising from free play just before the break. Bridgnorth started the second half better and soon scored a second goal to take the lead. Sils never lost their self belief and battled on as substitutions were rolled on and off throughout the second half with persistence paying off with a deserved equaliser coming from a short corner that was slammed home by Ruth Dovey. The ever threatening Samantha Cooper bagged her second only for Bridgnorth to equalise from a short corner late on.
Maybe two points lost rather than a point gained but many positives to work on and a good start to the second half of the season.
MOM – Ruth Dovey for another industrious game in midfield
