Sam Cooper bags brace

Samantha Cooper bags brace as Telford come from behind to win. Sils started the game well with fast accurate passing that destroyed their opponents and soon scored from some good approach play finished off by the lethal Samantha Cooper. The new forward partnership of Naomi Ennis and Cooper is starting to gel and caused problems for the Telford defence throughout the first half. Sils soon went into a two goal lead when Sophie Price slipped the ball to Cooper who lifted her shot high into the net. The next goal was always going to be critical and Sils seemingly took their foot off the pace allowing Telford back into the game and they clawed a goal back from a short corner just before the break.
Telford started the second half better and were soon causing the Sils defence problems counter attacking with their pacey forwards. Sils didn’t help themselves with a spate of slack marking and impetus challenges which brought unnecessary pressure onto the defence and a failure to take the chances provided failed to close the match down. Telford were always a threat and equalised from another well worked short corner and with twelve minutes remaining scored the winner from open play.
Another game from which Sils should have taken all three points and the need to increase the desire to win and tighter discipline within their own third was clear to see.
