Sils battle bravely but loose to second half goals.

Following last weeks reversal Sils started brightly and were soon attacking the Edgbaston goal as Samantha Cooper slipped the ball to Ruth Dovey who quickly moved the ball on Emily Green who got a fierce shot away to be thwarted by the goal keeper. But Edgbaston were soon on the counter attack broken down by Becky Bakewell who calmly won the ball and strode into midfield before passing the ball off. This continued to be the basis of the initial game with Sils having the majority of the ball although falling to swift counter attacking by the opposition with Bakewell and Kate Huntington having to be called on numerous times to prevent further incursions.

Edgbaston eventually broke through the Sils defensive ranks when the ball wasn't sufficiently cleared and they took the lead on 20. Five minutes later the ball was in the back of the Sils net once again although being disallowed for an infringement.

On 28 minutes Sils dragged themselves back into the game with a deserved equaliser. As Sam Cooper drove into the D losing a shoe in the process before her shot was coolly deflected into the goal by Emily Green.
As the half drew to a close Sils were continuing their attacks and only some frantic defending and several goal line clearances by Edgbaston before they managed to clear the ball prevented a further goal being scored. One further attack right on the whistle led to a short corner though well worked by Sils but did not covert to a goal.

At 1:1 the second half was always going to be a decider with Edgbaston straight out of the blocks and instantly on the attack with Becky Bakewell confidently breaking the play up and feeding the midfield. This seemed to be the pattern of the play with Bakewell and Huntigton increasingly being called into action Edgbaston’s quick fire counter attacks soon had the Sils defence out numbered leading to two quick goals being taken. Although Sils battled bravely Edgbaston scored again as Sils sought to get back into the game to make it 1:4 and there was no way back for Sils after a promising start.

Another match in which Sils played well but didn't quite have the clear cut opportunities to finish the possession held into goals.
