Christmas comes early as both defences find defending hard to grasp.

Sils travelled to Birmingham with high hopes of points after the promising showing of previous weeks. However within 2 minutes of the start they found themselves 0:2 down due to a combination of lapse marking and a lack of general awareness that the game had actually started. Although Edgbaston were well on top at this stage Sils pulled themselves back into the game and within 5 minutes had drawn level through a sharp strike following a short corner by the ever reliable Ruth Dovey and the second from Caroline May ending a flowing move with a fine finish. Not to be outdone the youngsters were in on the act and a fast moving attack by the flying Georgina Jones was slipped to Tamara Majevadia who finished with a well struck effort for Sils to take the lead although hanging onto it was proving difficult as both defences were having trouble defending on the fast paced and at times bouncy water based University pitch.

The turning point came midway through the half when Rebecca Leaning had to come off injured and soon afterwards Edgbaston managed to move the ball forwards and scored through a ruck of players against the run of play to equalise. The score stayed static until into the second half when once again Edgbaston managed to score following a short corner which culminated in a defensive own goal, Sils came back and equalised with a short corner finished strongly by Claire Robinson. Sils were again in control and following a good forward run by Dovey into the D the keeper was left in no mans land as the ball was slipped to Ally Taft who scored for Sils to once again take the lead. Edgbaston still came back and yet another short corner on 55 minutes resulted in the equalising goal.

As the match looked to be ebbing out for a draw Edgbaston were awarded another short corner with minutes to go on the clock which somehow crept into the net for the winning goal.

MOM: Ruth Dovey who kept going till the end despite the game falling to pieces around her.

DOD: Claire Robinson, now if i'm lost who shall I ring for directions............, enough said.
