Patched up Sils limp home safely as injuries take their toll

Held together with roc tape Sils somehow managed to get a side out for the last match of the season against Leamington who usually give a good account of themselves. The game started even enough but with players trying to adjust t new positions the fluidity wasn’t quite there and Leamington grafted out a two goal lead through an unfortunate own goal and a breakaway that overran the defence. But Sils kept going and clawed themselves back into contention with the now familiar Tammy goal which buoyed everyone up and good pressure was applied to the Leamington defence without any real chance on goal. Despite the pressure Leamington were always a threat going forward and as half time approached the short corner routine made the process look easy as they increased their lead even further.

After a rousing pep talk at half time from Coach Jess play resumed with a more positive attitude with the game being taken to Leamington and tackles now being won. Ruth although injured was still a threat and a strong run swapping passes with Tammy saw them carve the defence open to get a shot on goal. The Leamington keeper is competent enough and was being well worked by the forwards who were now looking like a threat with a much more positive attitude all round. Sils were in the offensive now and short corners were being won although defended well by Leamington and the ball somehow being scrambled away each time Sils were keeping the pressure on and by now the Leamington keeper was single handedly keeping them in the game as shots rained in from all angles but against the run of play Leamington had a quick break away and over running the defence managed to put the game beyond Sils reach.
There was still fight in the team and they fought to the game to try and reduce the deficit whilst at the other end the hard working defence were determined no further goals were to be conceded as Jo went diving across goal to make a further last ditch save.

Alas as the season ends we say farewell to Captain Tamara, goal hero extraordinaire as she heads off to academia and alcohol/parties. Good luck at Uni Tam

MoM: Emma James for yet another accomplished performance.
DoD: Emma Fell for smashing the ball into Ruth’s already damaged shoulder, such love.
