4th win in 5, and third clean sheet in a row for the Mighty Twos

Old Silhillians 2nd XI 2 (1) - (0) 0 Solihull Blossomfield 3rd XI

Goalscorers: Sarah Crane, Kate Huntington

Sils Ladies 2s went into this game full of confidence after some recent fine performances. Playing their local rivals, the team dominated from start to finish - though just with enough time for a few scares at the back as well!

Jess Cox, Olivia Arnold and Lucy Windeatt defended well down the flanks, Abi Landa and Mille McCamley distributed the ball intelligently, and the forward line of Katie Seazell, Lorna Brooks Scott and Sarah Crane ran enthusiastically and helped create space for others - Maria O'Malley-White and Laura Porter exposing these gaps to create numerous chances.

The visiting keeper was in fine form though, and luck was not quite with the Sils, but they were able to take the lead through a goal from Player of the Match Sarah Crane just before the end of the half.

The second half was similar to the first, though with Bloss beginning to create some more chances on the break - most of the time Jess Cox was quick enough to recover, but with Kate Huntington pushing up to add additional weight to the attack, Bloss did get a couple of shots in. Sils thought they had scored a second when Laura Porter turned the ball home against her former club, but the whistle had already been blown for a foul. Thankfully, the decision to move Kate further forward paid off, with her extra game-awareness allowing her to score with an intelligent first time deflection from a Landa cross, moments after Abi had gone close herself with the ball being cleared off the line. However, one of Bloss's breaks led to Helen Price making a great stop, but in the following up activity, she saved with the back of her stick (according to the umpire) and so the visiting team had a Penalty Stroke. With Helen's third clean sheet under threat she was determined to make amends though, and she expertly dived to her left to make sure the ball did not go in.

More chances came, mainly for Sils, but no further score came, leaving Sils with a 2-0 win.

Sarah Crane was voted Player of the Match for her intelligent use of space, creating opportunities for others as well as herself.
