After a couple of seasons in the U6s and a few weeks into the U8s training programme it was time to take on Sutton in the a first fixture for a new group of determined kids.
A quick reshuffle into a 3-3-2 formation after the keeper kit went missing and the team were ready to start. Sils controlled the first ten minutes and good defending by Sutton kept the score at nil a piece. Sutton then found their way into the game grabbing 3 quick goals before the end of the first third. 2 more goals in each of the remaining thirds meant Sutton ran out with a comfortable win. The last 5 minutes were spent in the Sutton half with all 7 Sils players pressing to get the elusive goal that sadly didn't arrive.
Highlights included Daniel Ward's energetic runs with the ball and William Dovey's dogged determination to get to the ball turning defence into attack. The latter narrowly pipping the former as player of the match as voted by their team mates.
