The Sils under 10 Girls went into the Warwickshire County U10 Finals as the runners up from their pool, which meant they had to face the winners of the other pool.
Some good preparation had the girls well prepared to face Rugby & East Warwickshire in their semi-final. Rugby scored very early on, but then Sils had a strong period of play, with the Rugby goalkeeper being called upon to make a couple of saves, before Rugby scored a second.
Unfortunately, this second goal led to Sils losing their shape and structure, and whilst Libby King in goal was making some outstanding saves, all too often she was left with a bit too much to do, and Rugby ended up comfortable victors. Rugby, then went on to win the final - so Sils should not be disheartened having lost to the eventual winners (and definitely the strongest team on show).
In the other semi-final, Leamington beat Sutton Coldfield with the final play of the game, and so the 3rd/4th play off was between Sils and Sutton.
The game was tightly fought, and even after extra time, the two teams could not be separated, and so honours ended even, with Sils sharing 3rd place in the County - a fabulous effort by all involved, as Warwickshire is the strongest County in the Midlands for Junior hockey, so Sils could well be better than many of the winners of other County tournaments.
Well done girls.
