The U12s played in the next round of the Warwickshire Festival, hosted at Sils.
In a tightly fought first match, Matthew Hulbert scored the only goal, to give Sils a 1-0 win over Leamington, with Joshua Bowley making some good saves in goal.
Atherstone were next up - and their U10 team has not yet lost a match this year - and you could see why! They have two outstanding lads in their team who dominate every match, and Sils have had the "pleasure" of playing against them twice now, and have not yet developed a game plan to combat them. However, this match was closer than the score suggested, with Bowley again making some great saves, and the players all getting a good chance to play. The important thing to take from these encounters is to learn what works well, and what works less well - our juniors will continue to progress if they take positives from matches like this.
The third game exposed the limited numbers of the squad (due to some players not showing up), and tiring legs meant that Olton's one star player was able to score 3 goals with some good close skills and strong running.
Plenty of positives from the day though, and plenty of opportunities for all our players to improve. Thanks to players for all of their efforts, and the parents for their support.
