New Deal for all Club Members

Brand new deal for all Club Members.
Fancy a new stick for the New Year? Well, thanks to the latest sponsorship deal signed with Rage Hockey, the club can now offer sticks with a 40% discount.
Check out Rage Hockey, and for every stick, take 40% off the normal retail price, and that is what you can buy it for via the club. The sticks will be available via the online store very soon, but in the meantime, please contact the Chairman via email if you are interested - and that includes advice on what sticks would best suit you.

Club Refurb & Extension Given the Go Ahead

At last night's Old Silhillians Association EGM, the plans put forward by the committee for the refurbishment and extension of the clubhouse were approved almost unanimously (one abstention).
This now means that the OSA will progress with talks to sell off the old Steward's house and surrounding land, to raise capital to invest in the clubhouse.
There will be a further EGM of the OSA around Feb 2012 to put forward the Silhillians Sports Club proposal (e.g. the Sports Club taking over the management of the site), but if all goes smoothly, the new clubhouse could well be built this Summer!
Exciting Times - and if anyone knows of any potential investors, please email Steve.

Club Shortlisted for European Club of the Year

Following on from our great Runnners-Up slot in the England Hockey Board Club of the Year awards, we have received further commendation, by being shortlisted as one of five clubs put forward from England for the European Hockey Federation Club of the Year award.
We are in esteemed company, along with the likes of National League giants Beeston and Surbiton, as well as the large northern clubs Wakefiled and Alderley Edge.
Whilst we missed out on the EHB award, the criteria for the European Award relies less upon on-field success (which is where Alderley Edge beat us in the EHB award) and more on the achievements of the club to promote hockey - which is something we have done very well in the last few years.
Updates will be posted here as we receive them!

Opportunities for Club Youngsters

Within the Club, in support of the development of our future infra-structure, particularly with regards to youngsters, we are planning on running a number of courses. Could you please email the Chairman, and let him know if you might be interested in:
a) A Foundation Umpire course (aimed at ages 13 and below)
b) A Young Leaders Course (probably 11+)
c) The new England Hockey Leadership award (probably 11+)
- the difference between b and c is that the second one is very hockey specific, whereas the first would be for sport in general).
All courses will be held at the club, and run by members of the club.
