Old Sils Ladies 3rds v Blossomfield Ladies 4ths

Sunday brought the ladies 3rds second match of the season!
Another sunny day day and a home fixture against Blossomfield Ladies 4ths.
It was a great positive start for the Sils with sustained pressure being put on the Blossomfield defence but sadly no goal was realised despite great efforts.
In relative quick succession two breakaway goals were conceded to Blossomfield in the first half!
Issie Thomas dominated the midfield with excellent defensive cover and precision passing, well supported by Hannah Higley and Tara Ackroyd. All three players had a fantastic game, consistently showing drive, determination and skill!!
The forward line pressed high and hard. Ella Talbot made strong runs downs the right linking to Ellie Bray. The Sils team won a number of Penalty Corners but were unable to make most of them count. However in the second half a penalty corner saw Issie Thomas slip to Georgia Smith who scored with a solid drive!
Some great passing between Lauren Clarke and Emily Tree led to a hard cross to the back post that Georgia Smith couldn't quite turn it.
The defence stayed strong throughout providing a solid stand to the attacking team. Olivia Timmins showing a quickly developing strength of hit effectively clearing the ball on many occasions and Sandra Rowland again showing her skills and resiliance as a strong defending player.
In summary the exceptional work rate across the predominantly young Sils team couldn't quite match the Blossomfield experience however the match was a much improved performance from a rapidly improving team.

Also to note Issie Thomas, Hannah Higley, Tara Ackroyd and Ella Talbot all took hard ball hits and continued to play on ..so well done!!!
