The Sils 1st XI hosted Telford this weekend and after a slight dip in form were looking to get back to winning ways. With sound defensive advice ringing in their ears the Sils started the game in a much more compact fashion than in recent weeks which allowed the Sils to take early control of the game. Whilst the early stages were respectful from both sides it was the Sils who looked the bigger threat with both Jamie Glynn and Tom Banton going close on separate occasions, but it fell to Banton to opening the scoring for the sils after captain Jamie Clapham had found him on the top of the D and his reverse stick shot left the opposition keeper no chance. Despite several short corners the Sils were unable to capitalise on their dominance and went in to the break with just the one goal advantage.
The second half continued where the first had left off, with Bayliss and Sulway controlling the game from the back and the pressure soon told when some good work from Jon Hollway down the right found Glynn who’s saved shot was followed up by Banton doubling the Sils lead. The Telford keeper had an excellent second half and denied Sils several chances to increase their lead and unfortunately for Sils this gave Telford hope and they managed to score two quick goals to level the score. Despite the Sils pushing for the winner the game finished level at 2-2.
