First game v Edgbaston in decades

The Old Sils travelled to Edgbaston on Saturday starting a run of three very winnable games, and know that three points would help them leapfrog their opponents.

On the waterbased pitch the Sils started very slowly and struggled to find their fluent passing rhythm allowing Edgbaston to take control of the game. Unfortunately neither side created many chances in the first half other than a dubious short corner which Edgbaston managed to score off giving them the lead at half time.

After some tactical instructions at the break from player coach Dan Sulway the Sils soon found their touch and started moving the ball round with man of the match Tom Harrisson controlling the game from the back and the Sils had soon drawn level thanks to some good work from Jamie Glynn Matthew Fell roofed his unstoppable deflection. The Sils grew in confidence and were soon in the lead, skipper Jamie Clapham robbing the ball in the middle of the park and driving into the D drew out the keeper and set up young star Tom Banton to finish into the empty net. The Sils then held strong defensively all over the pitch and were able to grab a third just before half time through top scorer Jamie Glynn whose reverse stick shot beat the keeper leaving the final score at 3-1. The Sils host Cov and North Warwick in their final home game before Christmas.
