DJ Mo's boys maintain 5 match unbeaten run.

A tight game against a well-organised and challenging opposition. There were many changes to the team as 1st team call-ups, injury, skiing and holiday meant that a bare 11 (not nude though I hope - Ed) appeared at the Stadio del Steve Tabb on Saturday. There was little to play for in terms of status - but massive desire to keep up the run in what has been an excellent season. Mo and 'Right Said Fred' Thurman were leading the line, Charles Pottinger slipped into midfield and Gary Perkins was back from the Ski Holiday from Hell to shore up the team. Milz and Tony J were the bastions at the back.
The game was full-on, and Bloxwich had many chances to break into the Sils 23. Some great work from the midfield allowed much of the pressure to be absorbed like a fresh sponge from Aldi. Shaun Bates was a welcome addition to the back 4, and provides some real 'arse' to the team. At times, it felt like being in the Old Guard at Waterloo facing the might of Wellington's cavalry -but like Cambronne, we did not surrender. DJ Mo was having an outstanding game; and there was also real threat from Pottinger and Thurman. Half time - 0-0 which was a result bearing in mind that both teams had missed one great chance each.
The 2nd half. Legs were weary, the body sweating and the pressure building. Bloxwich had the better of the second half, and Milz was like the Hoover Dam holding back Lake Mead. As the clock ticked down, Bloxwich cam close on several occasions, but Jim made some important saves, and everyone committed everything. Last two minutes saw two Bloxwick PCs that were dealt with well, and the final whistle went. We had nicked a point to be honest and had rode some luck. But as Napoleon said when one of his officers was being promoted 'yes I know he is brilliant - but is he lucky?'. The Emperor knew the value of luck - but then as Gary Player said 'the more I play, the luckier I get'. The last week has seen two performances of guts and effort which is brilliant. We are guaranteed 4th place, and with one more game to go can end the season with 11 wins. DJ Mo has promised a night out at the Club of Love in Oldham soon, which will be great for the older generation!!! Man of the Match was Jim Goldstraw but the whole team deserve credit. One more game to play. It is on Channel 4 at 2.30 pm. It is Pay Per View though.
