The title would have been so much better if Bromsgrove had scored four! This weeks match report courtesy of the fastest intellectual on two short legs aka the Whippet, Mr Tony Dwyer.

Report by Tony Dwyer

Start fast! And we have done! Last four games now, we've bossed games early, and forced teams onto the back foot. This game versus Bromsgrove was no exception. The now well-oiled Mighty 4's machine ground into early action, and early short corners resulted.
Cue the short corner Brains Trust huddle. It tends to go something like this -"OK, what are we doing? Erm.....gosh.....erm......well if....erm.......OK - how about we keep it simple - JH out to Simes, for a direct shot at goal? OK, good".
First short corner after 5 minutes - good shot - good save by Bromsgrove's keeper. Sustained pressure by Sils though, and a second short corner followed almost immediately.
Cue the short corner Brains Trust huddle. "OK, what are we doing? Erm.....gosh......erm......well what if.......erm......OK - JH straight out to Simes, for a shot at goal. OK, good".
Good shot on target again - good save by their keeper. On the sidelines, Judge Creed was beginning to get a bit twitchy. I mean there's 5 or 6 guys in that huddle. Combined IQ must be at least, what would you say? I mean there's Willetts K - IQ must be, say 45-ish? Hacker Harrison - hmm.... maybe there's a problem here?
Ten minutes in, and our pressure told, though, and following a great individual run by Rushy, goal-hanger Willetts K netted. Twenty three minutes in, and goal hanger Willetts K repeated the feat, and slotted again. Absolutely deadly from two yards out!
The half finished with new keeper Theo making a great one-on-one save, and preventing what would have been a possible momentum shifting goal for Broms.
Half time and 2 - Nil up. Come on guys, second half, back to Nil - Nil. We need to win it again. No let up. Judge Creed then stepped in. Can we not vary these short corners a little? First SC 2nd half, lets have Simes push it left to Alex, who can be ready on the swivel to take a shot. Then second short, Simes can simply play it straight back to Hacker on the post.
Second half, and the Mighty 4's machine, shaped and drummed into us all by Shaun, continued where it had left off, with sustained pressure, forcing two good saves from their keeper. But on 43 minutes, Bromsgrove were forced to concede a short. Great execution by Hacker & then Simes saw the ball switched left, as planned, to Alex, who scored with a great drag-finish! Assist to Creed, methinks?
More pressure from Sils, and another short awarded. Flushed with success, the pre-planned routine was again perfectly executed - JH out to Simes, and straight back to JH, who hit a good shot on target. A great save though, by their keeper, prevented Murray from winning motm from the touch line!
I've already written an essay, but there's still 2 goals to go!
A great move followed from "the most feared striker in the league", but Rushy's shot was brilliantly saved again (think its becoming clear who Broms' motm was!). He wasn't to be denied, though - on 51 minutes, a surging attack by JH was finished superbly by Rushy, for 4 - Nil.
The last goal was simply magic. Picking the ball up from somewhere around the half-way line, Rusty beat one, two, three, four men, entirely on his own, before hammering it past their keeper for Sils fifth! A simply stunning goal to finish a superb performance by the Mighty 4's.
So man of the match - commiserations to Willetts K for his two goals at important times, and to Murray for his short corner wizardry, but I'm instructed to award MOTM to .....who else, .....Andy Rush.
But if you played or supported, it was a great team performance, and you ALL contributed to it, you too Pat, for these match notes!
