Not losing run ends

Warwick are a good side. Their veterans are strong and they play at a high tempo. It is also very laudable that they select each week one gentleman who appears to be on Day Release from a secure facility. More on this later.
Following on from the excellent performance against Hampton, Capn Gary picked another strong team, and again we started at a high pace. There was lots of good passing amongst the midfield - which was helped with the arrival of Tog 14 from the Worcester training session. However it was the visitors who went ahead (the slippery little suckers - Ed), and this saw a period of intense pressure. Jim and the defence coped well, despite the level of flickage (is that a word? - Suzi Dent) from the Warwick short corners that threatened the safety of the defences looks. We responded well - and the pacey Taramasalata equalised from his own flick which flew into the net like a poison arrow to the Warwick heart. God I loved the 80s.
So it was 1-1. We were in a game, and the performance of Christ at the back was epic. He was supported well by the skipper and an excellent performance down the right by Gandalf. We came close a few times (sounds like Stormy Daniels!!! - D Trump), and with luck we could have score. However, Warwick with their forward line ably led by Norman Bates then put more pressure on, and in the last quarter of the match they scored twice. Bates' celebration was typically understated, and led to handbags with Jim after one clash. Jim backed down when Bates revealed he had called for his mother - and I was also planning a shower after the game and did not want to risk it. Bates has never been happy since 'On the Buses' was axed. Oh well. It was a night out for him.
The Sils are playing well at the moment. We seem more incisive that last year, and the enjoyment levels are high. Everyone is playing well so far, and the post-match chat was good. MoM was Simon Russell for his efforts and the amount of sweat produced. Next week, we have another home fixture. All are welcome. Mrs Perkins looks very lonely in that main stand.
