Edgbaston take the spoils as Sils still search for continuity

Hoping to make progress following last weeks opening performance Sils took to the pitch to battle Edgbaston in a rain lashed encounter. Starting well both sides matched each other for endeavour with fierce battles starting to emerge within midfield as each tried to take control. As with last weeks game though there after the initial ten minutes gaps were starting to emerge between the midfield and defence which was slowly being overrun with an increasing number of forwards who were supported quickly by their midfield players. This eventually told and by half time Sis found themselves 0:3 down.

Re-grouping themselves for the second period concentration levels were increased and Sils went about the game with more confidence and started to play as a team. The midfield was still fiercely contested but Ruth Dovey was gaining control and capped her performance with a fine solo goal advancing through the Edgbaston defence unchallenged before rifling a shot through the keeper for a deserved goal. Sils were buoyed on by the goal and started to exert pressure on the Edgbaston defence forcing a number of short corners in the process and with vice Captain Tamara Majevadia’s tireless runs Edgbaston were kept on the back foot. The next goal was always going to be crucial and just as Sils looked as though there was chance of a revival Edgbaston managed to clinch the game with a late strike winning 1:4. However, Sils have now played the top and second teams in the league and performances are getting better, early days but progress is being made.

MoM: Ruth Dovey who took the midfield by storm and capped off her performance with a brilliant solo goal.
