Final Placing 6th (of 8)
The Sils, many of them playing their first ever game, started very badly, taking on a very strong Edgbaston side who not only had 2 stars, but also a GK, and this made a huge difference as Edgbaston ended up winning 7-0.
However, rather than let this affect them too badly, coach Jess Lawton did a wonderful job of re-organising the side and getting them into a better shape, and this resulted in them registering a 1-0 victory against Stratford in their next game, with Izzy Gardner scoring the winner.
This left them with all to play for in their final group game, and their continued improvement carried over into this game as they outplayed Hampton, but could just not score that vital goal which would have seen them come 2nd in the group.
So, with the game finishing 0-0, it was a 3rd in the group finish, and a 5th/6th play-off match against Sutton. Unfortunately, the perfect ending was not quite within the team's grasp, and they missed out on 5th, losing 1-0 to Sutton.
However, the improvement in play from the first game to the last game was barely believable and the team can take great heart from their performances in this tournament - all great experienced to take into future matches.
