What a great few games.
Sils started strong against Warwick, keeping the ball wide with mostly accurate passing. Mattie, Freya and Martha played at the back putting up a strong defence against an aggressive attack. Against Edgbaston we let the game slide with confusion and tackling our own team members, and letting a couple of balls sneak over the line - however at this age group Edgbaston have been strong all season, and the Sils results are improving every time we play them.
With Olton A, our third game of the morning, we found our groove. Despite being wet and cold, the team stepped up, once more keeping the ball wide, with the midfielders Max and Megan running back and forth between attack and defence putting in a great effort. The team work with the attackers, Gabby and Connie, saw three goals whilst the fourth was from a run away effort from Max.
Hampton put up a fight and it was a lucky shot from Maxim that saw us take the win. The final game against Olton B saw a little of the crazy, bees to a honey pot approach to the game. After a couple of minutes the team settled, and played the game going wide and keeping positions. Excellent defending from Mattie and Megan kept Olton at bay and a sterling effort from the midfield and attackers, Gabby, Max, Lucy, Megan and Martha saw us to healthy win. Yardley did not show up, so Sils took the win as a walkover.
Overall, despite the cold and rain, the Sils Under 10 team maintained good spirits and played great hockey.
