The U11s played in the Solihull School tournament, drawn in the same group as Edgbaston, Atherstone, Harborne and Solihull Blossomfield.
They started the day strongly, with a convincing 4-0 win against Edgbaston, with a hat-trick from Matt Hulbert and one from Jane Woodley. However, a little complacency then set in as they lost to Atherstone (who eventually finished second) 3-0.
The team got their campaign back on track with a 3-0 victory over Harborne, who had previously beaten Atherstone, and this threw the group open wide. Goals from Hulbert (2) and Woodley (1).
However, going into their last game, knowing a victory would probably see the team through on goal difference, they were unable to score past the Blossomfield defence with the Bloss keeper denying them on several occasions, and the team had to settle for a 0-0 draw. With Harborne and Atherstone winning their final games, this dropped Sils into 3rd place in the group and they just missed out on a semi-final place; nonetheless all players did really well and should be commended for how they played.
Well done all, and thanks to Ali for coaching.
